On Saturday May 22, the D-Store Orange County had a very special guest- four-time world 250GP champion, winner of 13 500GP and MotoGP races, and current World Superbike star Max Biaggi!
The Aprilia Alitalia race pilot is having an amazing season so far, and is currently in first place in the World Superbike Championship. His Aprilia RSV4 is possibly the fastest bike on the track, and Max is using all of his considerable experience to make the most of it.
During his visit, Max was kind enough to sit down for an interview in front of approximately 250 fans, some of which drove several hours to see him. During the interview, Biaggi was smiling, personable, and offered insight into what it takes to compete at a world championship level. When asked about MotoGP’s rule change to 1000cc in 2012, and whether he will ride an RSV4 based MotoGP bike, Max’s response, said with a laugh, was “in 2012 I will be a grandfather”. Not really.
After the interview, Biaggi gracefully signed autographs for almost two hours! Fans walked away with autographed posters, fairing, hats, even a few brand new Dainese one-piece racing suits signed by Biaggi. Nearly everyone got a picture taken with the champion as well.
Max has worn Dainese gear throughout his long career, and has contributed to Dainese’s safety research. He believes in nothing but the best.
Born in Rome, Italy, Max Biaggi now resides in Monaco and near Los Angeles. He was in town getting ready for the Utah round of World Superbike May 30, which he won handily.
In addition to hanging out with a world champion, D-Store visitors also got to try out some new Aprilia motorcycles and scooters, courtesy of Aprilia USA. A fleet of demo bikes included the Shiver, Mana, SXV550, SR50 and Tuono.
